DAILY BIBLE PROMISE

** God put His Cross where His Mouth Was - all along! ** Today's Bible Promise is ... "A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps." Pr 16:9

'DAILY LIGHT ON THE DAILY PATH' (circa. 1875)

MORNING

Fear not; I am the first and the last.

Y E are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, . . . but ye are come unto mount Sion, . . . to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant.--Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.--We have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.--The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Art thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One?--Who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?

2 Sa. 22. 32.

EVENING

Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

B E careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path.--He knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.--Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.--Thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat.

Who is a rock save our God?--They shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.--Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.--Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil.

'MY LAST WORDS WERE ... '

(In utter frustration, to a pupil:) "You'll never get it - you will never amount to ANYTHING!!"

Mt 12: 36, 37
"But I say unto you, That every idle (careless) word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."

DAILY HYMN (LYRICS & MUSIC)

AN EVENING PRAYER

If I have wounded any soul today,
If I have caused one foot to go astray,
If I have walked in my own willful way,
Dear Lord, forgive!

If I have uttered idle words or vain,
If I have turned aside from want or pain,
Lest I myself shall suffer through the strain,
Dear Lord, forgive!

If I have been perverse or hard, or cold,
If I have longed for shelter in Thy fold,
When Thou hast given me some fort to hold,
Dear Lord, forgive!

Forgive the sins I have confessed to Thee;
Forgive the secret sins I do not see;
O guide me, love me and my keeper be,
Dear Lord, Amen.

CHRISTIAN STUDY RESOURCES

'SO MY THEOLOGICAL FRIEND...'

Spurgeon, "Inexcusable Irreverence And Ingratitude"

Knowledge is of no use if it does not lead to holy practice!

So my theological friend over there,
who knows so much that he can split hairs over doctrines-
it does not matter what you think, or what you know,
unless it leads you to glorify God, and to be thankful.

No, your knowledge may be a millstone about your neck to
sink you down to eternal woe, unless your knowledge is
turned to holy practice.
