** God put His Cross where His Mouth Was - all along! ** Today's Bible Promise is ... "But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep [you] from evil. And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you." 2 Thes 3:3-4

Beloved, be not ignorant of this one
thing, that one day is with the Lord
as a thousand years, and a
thousand years as one day. The
Lord is not slack concerning his
promise, as some men count

M Y thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, . . . so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

2 PET. 3. 8, 9. Is. 55. 8-11. Ro. 11. 32, 33.

T HE sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?--We had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us.--The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.--Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.

Be instant in season, out of season.-- Others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire.

Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.--Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Lord, thank You for my bed! I know that seems a bit silly - but there are so many homeless people I see on the streets - with nowhere to sleep in comfort. You have provided so many things for me, Lord - but one of the best things I have is my soft, cozy bed.

Father, bless and help those souls in trouble - and on the street!

A Father's love ...

Dad's don't love quite the same as Mom's do ... There's a difference. Parental care and nurturing assumes whole new vistas where Moms & Dads are concerned. And all children respond to this instinctively - by 'bonding'.

God Is A Parent too. And He knows a bit about kids. At one point, God actually says that the Father that withholds the rod - HATES that child! (Pr 13:24) So discipline demonstrates love. And so, Jesus says that He Rebukes and Chastens (Punishes) all those He Loves!

Tough love is loving even when it hurts! And love always hurts! In fact, loving doesn't seem to mind hurting at all! One thing about love - it is either selfless, or it is sick! Healthy love thinks nothing about sacrificing self for it's beloved! And so it is Joy for Parents to give to their children.

But there is instilled in any recipient of such selfless, sacrificial love-giving - a genuine sense of obligation. Children OWE their Parents for loving them so! But wait - I thought you just said that this was JOY for Parents? Right! But bonding is mutual, or it is not at all!

When a soul Bonds with God - God Bonds BACK! In this Spiritual Adoption, the Child exclaims, "ABBA!". And the Father is thus Adored - and Honored. After all, it was God Who coined the phrase, 'bone of His Bone, flesh of His Flesh, breath of His Breath', etc. Having Made us in or after His Own Image (or TO Image or Reflect Him) - God had this Very Bonding in-Mind! And we SEE this nowhere more Vividly Annunciated than in Jesus Christ - Personally!

Father, thank You for Your Son - in Whom we See Your Love for us - as FATHER!

Surrounded by unnumbered foes,
Against my soul the battle goes;
Yet though I weary, sore distressed,
I know that I shall reach my rest:
I lift my tearful eyes above—
His banner over me is love.

Its sword my spirit will not yield,
Though flesh may faint upon the field;
He waves before my fading sight
The branch of palm, the crown of light:
I lift my brightening eyes above—
His banner over me is love.

My cloud of battle-dust may dim,
His veil of splendor curtain Him;
And in the midnight of my fear
I may not feel Him standing near:
But, as I lift mine eyes above,
His banner over me is love.

"Juris-Diction!" ('No Tresspassing!')
(an essay in 537 words by Dennis Rideout)

My mother tells me the first words out of my two-year-old mouth were, 'NO TRESPASSING'! Aside from a clear and early indication of precociousness, those two words always intrigued me.

Another thing has fascinated me; in many primitive tribal societies, there are no words for certain social conventions we 'superior socialites' think universal. Such notions as 'loneliness'; 'privacy'; 'freedom'; and even the fundamental idea of 'private ownership' are total mysteries to these simple people. And, as any foreign missionary can attest, these (and other) 'modern' social-inventions tend more to corrupt than to enhance behavior among tribal peoples.

But then where did a two year old get a notion of 'no trespassing', (I'm told this was said while barring the door in mock defiance).

Paul says something in 2 Cor. that may shed some light on all this: "God has put His seal upon us and given us His Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee." -2 Cor 1:22 R.S.V. That word 'seal' is a very interesting word. It's Greek #4972 'sphragizo' = stamp, signet, mark, to keep secret, to attest to, seal up, make secure; and it's root is Greek #4973 = a signet, as fencing in or protecting from misappropriation (or, 'no trespassing! ), a mark of privacy or genuineness (or, to validate personal ownership as to jurisdiction).

Webster defines 'jurisdiction' as; '1- right or authority to interpret and apply the law, and, 2- limits within which authority may be exercised'. Actually, it is made up of two words that say it all: 'juris' (law), and 'diction' (speaks) - i.e., where the law speaks (or has a 'say-so', or authority, or where the law's word is final!).

Now the law is one thing, but the Spirit is quite another! Jesus paid in blood for each and every soul that belongs to Him! I'd say that gives Him title deed to us!

But Paul here states (in the Greek) that God has placed His 'signet-mark-seal' or Name upon us by placing His very own Spirit within us! It's as if He's saying, 'NO TRESPASSING!' about HIS private ownership of us!

But notice there's something else; a guarantee! God's Guarantee! Well, I guess that gives 'new meaning' to the phrase 'His Word's as good as His bond'! So Paul later assures us, "Being confident of this very thing, that He that hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:"-Phil 1:6 K.J.V.

No, when GOD says 'hands off!', we can be sure, VERY sure, that He has absolute jurisdiction over what belongs to Him! We have His Word, His Promise, His Performance, Proof, Name, Seal, Guarantee, Blood, Life, Soul, His very Person, HIS HOLY SPIRIT on it! But can we trust God? Can He be relied upon? It takes a miracle to say 'Y E S'!

We usually associate the words 'No Trespassing' with 'Private Property'. Imbedded in the very 'heart' of that Greek word for 'seal' is this very meaning! God has affixed His Personal Stamp on us which states clearly, 'God's Property - HANDS OFF!'

Gives your faith quite a 'shot' to know we're His Personal Property, or 'Private Treasure', huh? And THAT'S what I call DIVINE jurisdiction! GOD HAS DOMINION HERE!
