** God put His Cross where His Mouth Was - all along! ** Today's Bible Promise is ... "The LORD [is] thy keeper: the LORD [is] thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore." Ps 125:5-8

If ye do return unto the LORD with all
your hearts, then put away the
strange gods and Ashtaroth from
among you, and prepare your
hearts unto the LORD, and serve
him only.

L ITTLE children, keep yourselves from idols.--Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.--Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.--Serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts.

Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.--Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.--Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

Mat. 6. 24. Ex. 34. 14.--1 Ch. 28. 9.
Ps. 51. 6.--1 Sa. 16. 7.--1 John 3. 21.

When the Son of man cometh, shall he
find faith on the earth?

H E came unto his own, and his own received him not.--The Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith.

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.--Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching.--Looking for that blessed hope, . . . the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Hang IN there!

There is a word. One that folks may have heard alot - but few know what it REALLY means. 'Exhort!' They think it means to take another person 'to-task' - or to 'chastise, verbally' - or maybe just to 'warn'. Well, it doesn't. It means to 'build up', 'urge on', 'encourage' or 'remind'.

We Christians are SUPPOSED to be "exhorting one another DAILY!" (it says in Heb 3:13). Tell me - do you actually SEE alot of this going on?

For those souls Paul says that are "Saved by HOPE!", most of us are in great need of routine exhorting - building-up - encouraging! We need reminding often that our Lord Is a RISEN Lord - that He Is FIRSTBORN FROM THE DEAD! And that His Inheritance is not only Eternal Life in the great Hereafter - but 'Abundant Life' in the right-here-&-Now!

It's hard - I know! Keep your chin up. Hanging in there requires solidarity - courage - tenacity - loyalty - GUTZ! That's right - Christians (above ALL!) should have GUTZ! After all, we Follow a Mighty King into Battle! And His Banner over us is "VICTORY!" But how easily we fergit! (garsh!)

Peter died with this foremost on his mind; he said, "Therefore I intend always to remind you of these things, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to arouse you by way of reminder... And I will see to it that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things." (2Pet1:12,13,15)

The only alternative to our 'hanging-in-there' is 'fainting' (hear today's podcast on this). And if we do that, we may not Inherit ANYTHING in-Christ! So this is no small matter. And if we love the Brethren, it ought to be our priority to see to it that "none are found to have fallen short of the Goal!".

We have a GREAT Leader - Who has a GREAT Plan - Who has ASSURED us of His Victory, and our place in it - with Him. And it is HIS WORK in us to see to it our Faith Is Perfected! I don't know about YOU, pilgrim - but (even though I might have many misgivings about my own abilities to Finish The Race) - I TRUST HIM!

So, HANG IN THERE, BABY! And show the world JUST what you're MADE OF!

Hail! Father, Son and Spirit great,
Before the birth of time
Enthroned in everlasting state,
Jehovah Elohim!

A mystical plurality
We in the Godhead own,
Adoring One in Persons Three,
And Three in nature One.

From Thee our being we receive,
The creatures of Thy grace;
And, raised out of the earth, we live
To sing our Maker’s praise.

Thy powerful, wise, and loving mind
Did our creation plan;
And all the glorious Persons joined
To form Thy favorite, man.

Again Thou didst, in council met,
Thy ruined work restore,
Established in our first estate,
To forfeit it no more.

And when we rise in love renewed,
Our souls resemble Thee,
An image of the Triune God,
To all eternity.

CHRISTIAN 'FAINTING' (or losing heart)
(see Gal 6:9)

'Are you hungry?'

from Spurgeon's sermon, "BREAD FOR THE HUNGRY"

We should come to hear the Word, like baby birds in the nest--
when the mother-bird comes with the worm, they are all
stretching their necks to see which one shall get the food,
for they are all hungry and want it.

And so should hearers be ready to get hold of the Word,
not wanting that we should force it down their throats, but
waiting there, opening their mouths wide that they may be filled,
receiving the Word in the love of it, taking in the Word as the
thirsty earth drinks in the rain of heaven.

Hungry souls love the Word.

Perhaps the 'speaker' may not always put it as they may like to
hear it, but as long as it is God's Word, it is enough for them.

They are like people who are sitting at the reading of a will--
the lawyer may have a squeaking voice, perhaps, or he
mispronounces the words, but what does that matter?
They are listening to see what is left to them.

So is it with God's people. It is not the preacher,
but the 'preacher's God' that these hungry ones look to.

Why, if you were very poor, and some benevolent neighbor
should send you a loaf of bread by a man who had a club foot,
you would not look at the foot, you would look at the bread.

And so is it with the hearers of the Word-- they know if they
wait until they get a perfect preacher, they will get no preacher
at all, but they are willing to take the man, imperfections and all,
provided he brings the Master's bread.

And though he be but a lad, and can bring but a few barley
loaves and fishes, yet since the Master multiplies the provision,
there is enough for all, and they feed to the full.

Pr 11:7
"When the wicked dies, his hope perishes,
and the expectation of the godless comes to nought."

Blest is he who loves God's precepts, Who from sin restraints his feet,
He who will not stand with sinners, He who shuns the scorners' seat.

Blest is he who makes the statutes Of the Lord his chief delight,
In God's law, divinely perfect, Meditating day and night.

He is like a tree well planted By the flowing river's side,
Ever green of leaf and fruitful: Thus shall all his works abide.

Like the driven chaff the wicked Shall be swept from off the land
With the just they shall not gather, Nor shall in the judgment stand.

Well the Lord will guard the righteous, For their way to Him is known;
But the way of evildoers Shall by Him be overthrown.

--Luther Orlando Emerson, 1863
