** God put His Cross where His Mouth Was - all along! ** Today's Bible Promise is ... "And this is the promise that he hath promised us, [even] eternal life." 1 Jn 2:25

Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit
the kingdom prepared for you from
the foundation of the world.

F EAR not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.--Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?--Heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ: if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

The Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me.--God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.--There is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.--He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

MAT. 25. 34. Lu. 12. 32.--Ja. 2. 5.--
Ro. 8. 17. John 16. 27.--He. 11. 16.
Re. 21. 7.--2 Ti. 4. 8.--Phi. 1. 6.

Riches are not for ever: and doth the
crown endure to every generation?

S URELY every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.--Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.--Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

They do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.--We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.--To him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.--There is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.--A crown of glory that fadeth not away.

PRO. 27. 24. Ps. 39. 6. Col. 3. 2.--
Mat 6. 19-21. 1 Co. 9. 25.--2 Co. 4. 18.--
Pr. 11. 18.--2 Ti. 4. 8.--1 Pe. 5. 4.

Lord, Job was a very Righteous man - yet he said all this: "I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came. (3:26) Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward. (5:7) Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. (14:1)" -

I realize just how prone all mortals are to such a variety of troubles - and just how easily this can occur - to any of us. How many speeding tickets, or moving violations SHOULD I have received - and did not?

How many temptations that would have landed me in jail, if caught, have you helped me avoid? The list goes on & on for any honest and observant soul. How many diseases and catastrophes of all sorts have I been spared? Thank You Lord!

Mortality is all about loss! Some losses are more devastating than others. If you have never lost a brother, sister, parent, dear friend, child, home, business, career, marriage or anything else so dear to you that you have bound-up your identity with it - then you may not (yet) know JUST how much a loss can hurt!

The loss of eyesight, hearing, ability to walk or talk - or any other debilitating illness - the loss of vibrant health - is catastrophic. But sooner or later - EVERY soul WILL experience a radical 'cutting-off' (circumcision). To be mortal means that we will all (soon) lose everything - in the end!

How we MANAGE our losses determines our maturity. Do we pout - throw tantrums - blame others - 'faint', or surrender to utter depression - withdraw and become so hardened inside that we eventually accuse God? Job's wife got so fed up with his Sufferings at the Hand of God (that's right, it was GOD Who "destroyed Job without cause", see Job 2:3), that she actually encouraged him to get it over with - to curse God - so he could simply die!

Mortality is SCHOOL. And losses are a primary Lesson. We have the Opportunity to become Overcomers - to turn our losses into spiritual Victories - in-Christ. In fact, this is not optional for ANY New Creature in-Christ (see 1Jn 5:4).

I have no idea of (cannot relate to) what it must be like for a person to go through a fire. It is so permanent, sudden - final! But then so is earthquake, flood, hurricane or tornado - or simply the collapse of a public building. These things happen daily. There is no way to prepare for such sudden terrors - though we are Exhorted by God not to FEAR 'sudden panic" (see Pr 3:25).

So we Walk BY Faith in God. And Trust that what He Allows, He will also Enable us to Endure - WITH Him! And as we Learn these spiritual Lessons at His Instruction (Orchestration, or Engineering) - we GROW in His Stature and Providence - and thus Honor God with our mortality.

Lord, we thank You for Your Guidance, Instruction and Supervision in all we do.

At the Name of Jesus, every knee shall bow,
Every tongue confess Him King of glory now;
’Tis the Father’s pleasure we should call Him Lord,
Who from the beginning was the mighty Word.

Mighty and mysterious in the highest height,
God from everlasting, very light of light:
In the Father’s bosom with the spirit blest,
Love, in love eternal, rest, in perfect rest.

At His voice creation sprang at once to sight,
All the angel faces, all the hosts of light,
Thrones and dominations, stars upon their way,
All the heavenly orders, in their great array.

Humbled for a season, to receive a name
From the lips of sinners unto whom He came,
Faithfully He bore it, spotless to the last,
Brought it back victorious when from death He passed.

Bore it up triumphant with its human light,
Through all ranks of creatures, to the central height,
To the throne of Godhead, to the Father’s breast;
Filled it with the glory of that perfect rest.

Name Him, brothers, name Him, with love strong as death
But with awe and wonder, and with bated breath!
He is God the Savior, He is Christ the Lord,
Ever to be worshipped, trusted and adored.

In your hearts enthrone Him; there let Him subdue
All that is not holy, all that is not true;
Crown Him as your Captain in temptation’s hour;
Let His will enfold you in its light and power.

Brothers, this Lord Jesus shall return again,
With His Father’s glory, with His angel train;
For all wreaths of empire meet upon His brow,
And our hearts confess Him King of glory now.

'How to understand Scripture!'

from Spurgeon’s sermon, "The Golden Key of Prayer"

(This gem is primarily for anyone who teaches the bible)

John saw a book in the right hand of him that
sat on the throne -- a book sealed with seven
seals which none was found worthy to open or
to look thereon. What did John do? The book
was by-and-by opened by the Lion of the Tribe
of Judah, who had prevailed to open the book;
but it is written first before the book was opened,
"I wept much." Yes, and the tears of John which
were his liquid prayers, were, as far as he was
concerned, the sacred keys by which the folded
book was opened.

Brethren in the ministry, you who are teachers in
the Sunday school, and all of you who are learners
in the college of Christ Jesus, I beg you remember
that prayer is your best means of study!

like Daniel you shall understand the dream, and the
interpretation thereof, when you have sought unto
God; and like John you shall see the seven seals of
precious truth unloosed, after that you have wept much.

"Yes, if you cry after knowledge, and lift up the voice
for understanding; if you do you seek her as silver,
and search for her as for hid treasures; then shall you
understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge
of God."

Stones are not broken, except by an earnest use of the
hammer; and the stone breaker usually goes down on
his knees. Use the hammer of diligence, and let the
knee of prayer be exercised, too, and there is not a
stony doctrine in Scripture which is useful for you
to understand, which will not fly into shivers under
the exercise of prayer and faith.

To have prayed well is to have studied well.

You may force your way through anything
with the leverage of prayer.

Thoughts and reasoning may be like the steel wedges
which may open a way into truth; but prayer is the lever
which forces open the iron chest of sacred mystery,
that we may get the treasure that is hidden therein for
those who can force their way to reach it.

Take care that you work with the mighty tool
of prayer, and nothing can stand against you.
