MORNING

To him that soweth righteousness shall
be a sure reward.

A FTER a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

EVENING

God is faithful.

G OD is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?--The Lord sware and will not repent.

God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.--Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.--Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.--All the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

FOTO TOTO?

WHEEEEeeeee!!

What PHUN! A twirly-gig thingamabob. You know - you've been to the carnival and rode one of these. Spins you round & round at velocities that cause gravity and other physical forces to distort, compress and otherwise effect your body in inordinate ways?

This would be dangerous if it were not so temporary. After all, it only lasts just a few moments - and then everything's back to normal, right? But what a 'high'! The emotional 'rush' kicks out endorphins in the brain, and the adrenal gland floods the veins with chemical 'fear' - my, my! It's all just good, clean fun - right? - Let's do it AGAIN!

Emotions are to the soul what this joy-ride is to our temporal enjoyment. There is nothing wrong with emotions. Nothing at all. But neither is there anything wrong with heroine. All drugs, in fact, have their places - and what would we do without them? But addiction is WAY EVIL!

So many folks have been duped, seduced, deceived and drugged by social-emotional 'events'. They have come to associate these with what they have been taught is 'A Movement Of The Holy Spirit'. This is a form of counterfeit worshipped (Mt 15:8,9). It is neither TRUE ('in Truth'), nor SPIRIT (God's). But VERY addictive!

So much so, that without this emotional 'signature' - many are left bereft of any 'church' at all! Shame, that! When an addict associates 'happiness', 'joy', 'exhilaration', 'euphoria', or any other good feeling only with emotions - they are dislocated from reality. Addiction is confusion - BIG TIME! Stay on that carnival ride a little longer, and the physical results will prove loathsome.

A soul NEEDS God's Spirit - to BREATHE LIFE. To be robbed of God's Reality (Spiritual Truth) is not just emotionally carnal, but the same slow-death associated with ALL addictive abuse.

DAILY HYMN (LYRICS & MUSIC)

THE GUIDING HAND

Through each perplexing care and strife,
That marks the checkered path of life,
My Savior’s guiding hand I see,
And know that still He leadeth me.

Refrain

He leadeth me, he leadeth me,
Let this my theme of rapture be!
He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
My Savior’s guiding hand I see.

Though trials great before me rise,
Though clouds of sorrow veil my skies,
Unmoved the coming storm I see,
For God my Savior leadeth me.

Refrain

He leadeth me, O joy divine!
The glory His, the cross be mine,
Since He who suffered on the tree
In tender mercy leadeth me.

Refrain

With Him, my soul’s eternal Guide,
What can I wish or want beside?
In life or death my song shall be,
My loving Savior leadeth me.

Refrain

'FRUITS WORTHY OF REPENTANCE'
(Essay by Dennis Rideout - 1173 words, 2 5-minute audios)

PART ONE

this is an audio post - click to play

"Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, 'We have Abraham to (as) our father': for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham."-Lk 3:7,8

Just what are these 'fruits'? Well, John is asked this question by this same crowd. They asked, 'What shall we do then?'. Good question! Maybe the best bible question is asked by the Philippian jailer; "what must I do to be saved?"-Acts 16:30.

But is that what this group was asking? Notice John tells them to do something unheard of! Something impossible for the insincere, casual inquirer (merely intellectually curious!). (Vs 11) "He answereth and saith unto them, 'He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise!" When someone wants to be free of some 'thing', (anything!), that 'has a hold or grip on' him, he must first be willing to 'turn loose!'.

If these were to be 'a people made ready, prepared for the Lord', (which was John's mandate from God), so they might be eligible to 'Receive Him', they must first be convinced to 'turn unto the Lord' by turning from their own ways (this world)! John was given but one, burning message; 'REPENT!' That means let go; let God!

The 'spirit of Elijah' is a mighty wind that 'fans' the desire of men's hearts. Jesus asks three times in a row what the people expected of John, "but what went ye out into the wilderness to see?"-Mt 11:7,8,9. In other words, 'what did you seek?'. (What did you EXPECT to see?) 'Plant a carrot, get a carrot (not a Brussel sprout!)' is a line from one of my favorite songs from the musical 'The Fantastiks'.

As they sought - they found (in John). Jesus was also rough on a sincere young man who asked Him this question. Remember what He said? Much the same thing as John said to this 'assembly of snake-babies' ('brood of vipers'). "Go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up thy cross, and follow me!". -Mk 10:21. Now Jesus 'LOVED' this young man! But he went away sad! He could not 'bring forth the fruits worthy of repentance!'.

We have to see What we don't have, feel remorse, guilt and conviction of our own unworthiness of God's Love, learn that we can't do or make It ourselves, hear that It's a free gift from God, want It with all our heart, mind & soul, decide to risk 'letting go' and abandoning our welfare, or 'trust' Another, choose His life as our own, commit (vow) ourselves to His ownership, and then dedicate our life-time-resources to His Process of Sanctification.

Sound complicated? Nawww! Just sounds that way. Actually, it all happens in the twinkling of an eye. It's a spiritual thing, you know. But we must become 'broken' (contrite, willing) before we can 'open' (Come) unto Him! There is no way to counterfeit the true intent of our heart (and thus hide it from God). If we want God, He knows it! It's as if He's hunting, searching, (hungry even!), for one of His 'little ones' who's ready to 'fall in Love' with Him!

But that's exactly what it takes! Until we're ready to 'fall' helplessly, hopelessly, recklessly, out-of-control, head-over-heals in Love with Jesus Christ, we're all doomed to go away 'sad' (like the rich man), & cling desperately to a lethal world!

PART TWO

this is an audio post - click to play

But part of the problem is determining whose repentance! If we conclude it's man's repentance, John's sentance doesn't make any sense! How could man 'bring forth fruit worthy' of his own repentance? The answer is, of course, he couldn't! 'Who warned you to flee (GOD'S) wrath to come? - bring forth fruit worthy of (GOD'S) Repentance! NOW it makes sense! (But you say, '.....GOD'S REPENTANCE???')

Remember how Moses (God's saviour of His people) got God to repent of His wrath? "And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? Wherefore (why) should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people. Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, 'I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.' And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people."-Ex32:11-14.

Man has sinned, God's curse is on Him. If God does not Repent of His wrath, and find a way to pardon and forgive man, man has no hope! But God has always promised salvation from His wrath (He'd find a way!).

'The elijah effect' (I call it) brings man to that point of choice or decision where he is faced with the Reality of his delusion; that he's deceived; that he is not what God created him to be, and that he's doomed if he stays that way. This causes a man to cry, 'what must I do to be saved?'. In one, single word ('repent'), we have God's answer!

"For the LORD shall judge his people, and Repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left."-Dt 32:36.

"And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite."-1Chr 21:15.

"And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.'-Ps 106:45. God even says, 'I am weary with repenting!"-Jer 15:6.

Jesus said, "Whosoever will save his life will lose it!"-Mk 8:35.

We must all 'Behold, as in a glass, the Glory (Love) of the Lord' (and thus perceive our own nakedness without Him) to be 'changed into the same image from Glory to Glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord'.

But all this takes an 'OPEN FACE'. What Paul means by that 'open face' (humility) is 'FRUIT WORTHY OF REPENTANCE'! Jesus is our Vine, Branch, Fruit, Worth & Repentance! (Our 'Salt' AND our 'Light'!) For the Love of Christ, we -*AND*- God Repent!

PODCAST - DAILY AUDIO DEVOTIONALS

DAILY POEM

I went into my classroom
Ready for another year at school.
I didn't want the work,
Just wanted to hang and be cool.

I had on new clothes,
New sneakers on my feet.
I was there for class on time
Went to the back and took my seat.

Yeah, I'm moving up.
I'm already grown.
Soon I'll be graduating
And out on my own.

I talked to some of my friends.
We were all having fun.
Said some things I shouldn't have said,
Did stuff I shouldn't have done.

I knew I was different.
I felt God TOUCH my heart.
I knew I should set a standard,
But then I'd be set apart.

Walking to the bus,
I was not looking for strength.
I heard the car tires screeching,
But now-- it's too late.

I'm standing in this room
And I can see the heavenly gate.
Oh no! I never prayed.
I thought I had time to get it straight.

An angel walked to me.
He had a Book in his hand.
I knew it was the Book of Life.
When would this dream end?

I told him my name
And he began to look.
Then he looked at me sadly and said,
"Your name is not in this Book."

"Angel, this is a dream.
No, I can't be dead!"
He closed the Book and turned away.
He whispered - "You cannot proceed ahead."

"No, no, this can't be real!
Angel, you can't turn me away.
Let me talk to God.
Maybe He'll let me stay."

He led me to the gate.
Jesus came to me.
He did not let me in, but said,
"Beloved, what is your need?"

"Jesus," I cried, "please!
Don't cast me away from you."
Tears ran down His face as He said,
"You KNEW what you needed to do."

"Lord, please, I'm young.
I never thought I would die.
I thought I'd have plenty of time.
Death caught me by surprise."

"Lord, I went to church.
Please, Jesus, I believe!"
He said, "You would not accept Me.
My love you would not receive."

"Lord, there were too many hypocrites!
THEY weren't being true."
He took a step back and asked,
"What does that have to do with you?"

"Lord, my family claimed to be saved.
They weren't real-- You know."
He said, "I died for YOU.
Now, I have to go."

I fell to my knees, crying to Him.
"Lord, I planned to be real-- tomorrow."
I couldn't make Him understand.
I had never felt such sorrow.

Then it hit me hard. I said,
"Lord, where will I go?"
He looked into my eyes and said,
"My child, you ALREADY know."

"Please, Jesus," I begged,
"The place is so hot!"
It seemed to trouble and grieve Him.
He whispered, "DEPART FROM ME, I KNOW YOU NOT."

"Lord, You're supposed to be love.
How can You send me to damnation?"
He replied, "With your mouth you SAID you loved Me,
But each day you rejected My salvation."

With that, in an instant,
Day turned into night.
I never knew such torture could be.
Now, it's too late. I always knew the Bible was right.

If I can tell you anything,
Hell has no age.
It is a place of torture,
Separated from God and full of rage.

You know, I thought it was a funny joke.
But this one thing is true--
If you never accept Jesus Christ,
HELL IS WAITING FOR YOU!" --Anonymous

ART MEDIA WORTH MENTION (Selected Clips - Audio, Visual, Graphics)

Today's ART MEDIA SELECTION is an NPR Audio Clip on, 'Babies' Cells Linger, May Protect Mothers' - Some scientists have proposed that when a woman has a baby, she gets not just a son or a daughter, but a gift of cells that stays behind and protects her for the rest of her life. That's because a baby's cells linger in its mom's body for decades and -- like stem cells -- may help to repair damage when she gets sick. It's such an enticing idea that even the scientists who came up with the idea worry that it may be too beautiful to be true. Duration 7:35 minutes. - CHECK IT OUT! - CLICK HERE:
