** God put His Cross where His Mouth Was - all along! ** Today's Bible Promise is ... "Say among the heathen [that] the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously." Ps 96:10

For what is your life? It is even a vapour,
that appeareth for a little time, and
then vanisheth away.

M Y days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good. They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle that hasteth to the prey.--Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up. In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.--Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down.

The world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.--They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.--Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

JAMES 4. 14. Job 9. 25, 26.--Ps. 90. 5, 6.--
Job 14. 1, 2. 1 John 2. 17.--Ps. 102. 26, 27.--
He. 13. 8.

I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing
with the understanding also.

B E filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.--Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.

Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely. Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God.

I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps.

I can remember, as a lad, the original Disneyland being built (right in my proverbial 'backyard', in Southern California, where I grew up) - and the sheer magic and fantasy of the entire event. How it gripped the entire country - watching the progress on TV - from the giant earth movers, to the installation of the jungles, and then there was that magnificent mountain. But the CASTLE! O My, that fairyland, fantasy, fairytale, Sleeping-Beauty CASTLE!

That fantasy was taken from the real life castle in this photo. Built by a merry madman, King Ludwig. His sheer genius of the preposterous came to a climax in this marvelous masterpiece of frivolity. Reminds me of the silly chaplin's quip on Mash - "JOCULARITY, JOCULARITY!!"

So what's wrong with fantasy? Nada! Zilcho! Ain't nothin wrong with a healthy imagination - nosireeeeeee!! Every kid oughta have one! (Why else would we tell our children such ghastly, ghoulish and monstrous gibberish as makes up most fairytales - if it were not to 'give them a good imagination'?!) O my!

Day dreaming and wool-gathering fall into this category. There is nothing wrong with a lazy mind - unless you ever wish to USE it. THEN you may have a problem.

God Stimulates our minds. And there are few stories as good as those God has Told! In fact, there have been great, enormous minds - far more well-trained than I could even conceive, I am sure! - that have spent an entire lifetime contemplating the Marvels and Mysteries of God's Revelations to man. Were these mental giants lacking in imagination, do we spoze?

There is ample evidence in God's Word that we are what we think. That is, we tend to become (develop, mature) along the lines of what we're focused on. And so we are urged by the Apostle to "think on THESE THINGS" - those things that are spiritually edifying and the mental Food from Scripture Which causes us to Grow in God's Stature.

Priorities. I guess it all boils down to priorities. I loved Disneyland as a child - and was quite sure I understood why it was Kruschev lamented missing his visit there when he came to the USA. Come to think of it, there were all sorts of fancies that took my imagination as a youth. But I am Exhorted to "put away my childish things", if I am to grow up in-Christ!

Peter Pan belongs in Disneyland - with Tinkerbell!

ALL grow old - few grow UP!

But as for me and my house - we will Follow The Lord!

Savior, like a shepherd lead us, much we need Thy tender care;
In Thy pleasant pastures feed us, for our use Thy folds prepare.
Blessèd Jesus, blessèd Jesus! Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.
Blessèd Jesus, blessèd Jesus! Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.

We are Thine, Thou dost befriend us, be the guardian of our way;
Keep Thy flock, from sin defend us, seek us when we go astray.
Blessèd Jesus, blessèd Jesus! Hear, O hear us when we pray.
Blessèd Jesus, blessèd Jesus! Hear, O hear us when we pray.

Thou hast promised to receive us, poor and sinful though we be;
Thou hast mercy to relieve us, grace to cleanse and power to free.
Blessèd Jesus, blessèd Jesus! We will early turn to Thee.
Blessèd Jesus, blessèd Jesus! We will early turn to Thee.

Early let us seek Thy favor, early let us do Thy will;
Blessèd Lord and only Savior, with Thy love our bosoms fill.
Blessèd Jesus, blessèd Jesus! Thou hast loved us, love us still.
Blessèd Jesus, blessèd Jesus! Thou hast loved us, love us still.

'This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?'

(J. C. Ryle, "The Gospel of John")

"This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?"
John 6:60

Murmurs and complaints of this kind are very
common. It must never surprise us to hear them.
They have been, they are, they will be, as long
as the world stands.

To some Christ's sayings appear hard to understand.
To others they appear hard to believe. And to others,
harder still to obey.

It is just one of the many ways in which the natural
corruption of man shows itself. So long as the heart
is naturally . . .
unbelieving, and
fond of self-indulgence and sin,
so long there will never be lacking people who will
say of Christian doctrines and precepts, "This is a
hard teaching. Who can accept it?"

Fallen man, in interpreting the Bible, has an
unhappy aptitude for turning food into poison.

There is a melancholic anxiety in fallen man
to put a carnal sense on Scriptural expressions,
wherever he possibly can.

He struggles hard to make religion a matter . . .
of forms and ceremonies;
of doing and performing;
of sacraments and ordinances;
of sense and of sight.

He secretly dislikes that system of Christianity
which makes the state of the heart the principal

There is a tendency in many minds to attach an
excessive importance to the outward and visible
parts of religion. They seem to think that the sum
and substance of Christianity consists in public
ceremonies and forms, in appeals to the eye and
ear, and bodily excitement.

Pr 10:24
"The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him:
but the desire of the righteous shall be granted."

"O thou of little faith, God hath not failed thee yet! -
When all looks dark and gloomy, thou dost soon forget!

"Forget that He has led thee, and gently cleared thy way -
On clouds has poured His sunshine, and turned thy night to day!

"And if He's helped thee hitherto, He will not fail thee now -
How it must wound His loving heart, to see thy anxious brow!

Oh! doubt not any longer, to Him COMMIT thy way -
Whom in the past thou trusted, and is just the same today!"

NOTABLE QUOTES (Various Authors)

"A man may read the figures on a sundial, but he cannot tell how the day goes unless the sun is shining on it;

so we may read the Bible over, but we cannot learn to purpose till the Spirit of God shines upon it and into our hearts!"
