DAILY BIBLE PROMISE

** God put His Cross where His Mouth Was - all along! ** Today's Bible Promise is ... "I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake." 1 Jn 2:12

DAILY THANKSGIVING

WORK:

Lord, I want to thank you for work. Things You wish done - things I can DO with You.

There are many folks who are not ABLE to work - and for them any activity is a treat and a pleasure.

But to have a duty - to know what we are 'about' - and to be a part of Your Plan, somehow - this is a privilege.

So thank you for my work, Lord - give me a cheerful countenance as I gladly share it all with you - day by day.

SILVER KISSES!

There's kisses, and then - there are K I S S E S ! ! ! This tike is just a bit dubious about the good intentions of this statue-person! It may be that Mum has instructed not to accept kisses from strange people from other planets (?)

Kissey, kissey! Ever know someone like that? Effusive with gushing pretensions of affection far beyond capability, or permission? And then there are some that are deadly serious about just how much they think of you - and their 'roses' always bear more thorns than blossoms?

Society is of man. Oh, God WANTED to have His Own Nation, and to Be King to His Own People - but they did not WANT Him as their King (anymore than they wanted Jesus as their Messiah!). Man's social structures include Babylon, Sodomah and Jerusalem! Of the three, one is gone forever - the other two have wallowed in chaos, turmoil and utter pandemonium (at times) - for CENTURIES!

We must not place our trust in what man can do FOR us. My Grandfather (whom I never knew) exclaimed, when the 'Social Security Act' was signed, "Well, there is the begining of the END!" He may well have been right. Man pretends to care. To be ABLE to care! Man pretends alot.

God told His People that if they leaned on Egypt (depended on this world - rather than Him), that Egypt - in the end - would prove to have been like a badly needed crutch which, when leaned on, would splinter and impale them! Does it seem a bit harsh for God to tell us that the love of this world - no - just the FRIENDSHIP WITH this world - is bitter WARFARE (hatred, enmity) against God?

Next time another soul comes 'at' you with 'flowers of flattery' and sweet, mushy smoochies - better take a hint from this little 'rugrat' - better draw back a bit!

DAILY HYMN (LYRICS & MUSIC)

DAY BY DAY

Day by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find, to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He Whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best—
Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.

Every day, the Lord Himself is near me
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me,
He Whose Name is Counselor and Power;
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
“As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,”
This the pledge to me He made.

Help me then in every tribulation
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
Ever to take, as from a father’s hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till I reach the promised land.

CHRISTIAN STUDY RESOURCES

'The study of the Bible cannot save you!'

The following is from Spurgeon's sermon,
"Help for Seekers of the Light" #884. Is. 59:9.

True salvation is not to be found through
the mere reception of any creed, however
true or scriptural.

Mere 'head notion' is not
the road to heaven.

"You must be born again," means a
great deal more than that you must
believe certain dogmas.

The study of the Bible cannot save you!
You must press beyond this; you must come
to the living, personal Christ, or else your
acceptance of the soundest creed cannot
avail for the salvation of your soul.

Salvation lies in Jesus only!

"You search the Scriptures because you believe
they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures
point to me! Yet you refuse to come to Me so
that I can give you this eternal life." John 5:39-40

SAVED BY Afflictions & Sufferings of Apostles
KJV 2Cor1:6 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual F1 in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
RSV 2Cor1:6 If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer.
KJV Php1:19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
RSV Php1:19 Yes, and I shall rejoice. For I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance,
KJV 2Tm2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
RSV 2Tm2:10 Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain salvation in Christ Jesus with its eternal glory.

SAVED BY Advent (Christ's)
KJV Lk19:9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
RSV Lk19:9 And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham.
KJV Ro13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
RSV Ro13:11 Besides this you know what hour it is, how it is full time now for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed;
KJV 2Cor6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
RSV 2Cor6:2 For he says, "At the acceptable time I have listened to you, and helped you on the day of salvation." Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
KJV Titus2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
RSV Titus2:11 For the grace of God has appeared for the salvation of all men,
KJV Jude1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
RSV Jude1:3 Beloved, being very eager to write to you of our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.

SAVED BY Apostolic (Christs') Declaration!
KJV Jn 5:34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.
RSV Jn 5:34 Not that the testimony which I receive is from man; but I say this that you may be saved.

RSV 1 Th 5:9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through (by) our Lord Jesus Christ,

SAVED BY Baptism
KJV Mr16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
RSV Mr16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
KJV 1Pet3:20,21 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
RSV 1Pet3:20,21 who formerly did not obey, when God's patience waited in the days of Noah, during the building of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were saved through water. Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

SAVED BY Believing (GODs' Meaning!)
KJV Lk8:12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

RSV Mr16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

RSV 2Th2:13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.
