** God put His Cross where His Mouth Was - all along! ** Today's Bible Promise is ... "But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find [him], if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul." Dt 4:29

Ps 106:47
"Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph (glory) in thy praise."

Looks like he's posing for the photographer, doesn't it? Well, he might have been - they're such show-offs, you know!

Calm, quiet, placid, serene - these all describe the ideal we all aspire to. The Writer to the Hebrew Christians makes it clear we are to "strive or work diligently to enter into the Rest of Christ's" - odd, that - the need for effort to rest?! Even so - there it is.

This simple creature seems to have all that down pat. It all seems so effortless for him. But then he is not the 'Crown of Creation' - Human (Adam). Could it be this shows in his demeanor? One thing is sure - all Adam's Kin are a troubled sort! Job said that - and lived it!

As we are, indeed, 'born to trouble', as Job says - so Jesus tells us that each and every day has a certain amount of 'evil' (trouble) which God Engineers for us - and that we are not to resist it! He also reminds us that as our days, so shall our Strength be! That we will be given the Grace with which to endure all - with Him.

"Keep Sweet!" Boy!, what a reproach! The Art of Keeping Sweet - in spite of all the 'slings and arrows of outrageous fortune' that Shakespear says we are 'heir to' - requires that Peace of Christ's which passes ALL understanding (inspite of everything!).

But if an otter can do it - and if Jesus said we MUST - then I'm all for - getting ON with it! How bout you?

O wondrous world within a world
How beautiful thou art!
What high desire, what holy fire
Lie glowing at thy heart!
What beauty, like the silent stars,
Hangs ever o’er thy brow;
What youth, as old as Paradise,
Springs deathless in thee now!

Where did we learn to love thy face—
The music of thy name?
A leafy door beside the shore
Was opened—and we came.
Our lost ideals, grown more fair,
Thronged back through all thy ways;
Another life—a real life—
Filled all our empty days.

The world smiled, saying, “These are they
Who live among the trees;
Whose thoughts rise higher than the stars
And soar beyond the trees.
They do not weigh their wealth with gold
Or measure it with fame;
They speak a language all their own
They bear a hidden name.”

So weighs the world its own true life,
Nor knows it as its own,
While, Life of Life, above all strife
God waits upon His throne;
He waits until the world of things
And the world of thoughts shall be
Blent in that perfect thing we call
The New Humanity.

What joy is thine, O world within,
To bear thy banners out,
And there to claim in God’s dear Name
The last and least redoubt!
The earth is His—the heav’ns are His,
He stooped to make them one
When that great mystery was wrought
That gave us God the Son.

The world without is blind to thee,
Thou world of the within,
Yet through the years thy saints and seers
Its oracles have been.
Still trust them with thy prophecies;
Still through them breathe thy breath;
Till honor blossoms from the dust
And life spring out of death.

'What a treasure!'

from Thomas Reade's, "Christian Experience"

What a treasure is the Word of God!

Here we have....
Light, to dissipate our darkness;
Truth, to guide us amid the mazes of error;
Consolations, to gladden us in a world of misery.

The Bible is....
the Revelation of our Father's love;
the Expression of Jehovah's grace to sinners;
the Depository of heavenly blessings;
the Charter of our highest privileges;
the Religion of true Christians;
the Glory of our churches;
the Poor Man's Friend.

Everything sublime in conception, and tender in
expression, it is to be found in the sacred Scriptures.

The Eternal Jehovah has there revealed Himself as....
clothed with majesty and honor;
glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders;
of purer eyes than to behold iniquity;
in whose sight the heavens are not clean.

In the sacred Scriptures, he has manifested forth his glory,
as mighty to save; forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin.

In that blessed volume, Mercy is seen to arrest the
arm of Justice, and all the tenderness of the Father
is displayed in the person of the Son.

Love breathes throughout its sacred pages.

"O the sweetness that dwells in a harp of many strings,
while each, all vocal with love in a tuneful harmony rings.

But O the wail and the discord when one and another is rent,
tensionless, broken and lost from the cherished instrument.

For rapture of love is linked with the pain or fear of loss,
and the hand that takes the crown must ache with many a cross.

Yet he who hath never a conflict, hath never a victor's palm,
and only the toilers know the sweetness of rest and calm.

Only between the storms can the alpine traveler know,
transcendent glory of clearness, marvels of gleam and glow.

Had he the brightness unbroken of cloudless Summer days,
this had been dimmed by the dust and the veil of a brooding haze.

Who would dare the choice, neither, or both to know,
the finest quiver of joy, or the agony-thrill of woe?

Never the exquisite pain, and never the exquisite bliss,
for the heart that is dull to that, can never be strung to this."

God won't Tell what He'd rather SHARE with you!

(2Cor 12:4 "How that Paul was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.")

NOTABLE QUOTES (Various Authors)

"The most devout among us become aesthetic (sensually philosophical) when it comes to our daily cross-bearing; we do not believe God!

We enthrone common sense, and we tack the Name of God onto it. We lean to our own understanding instead of trusting God with all our hearts!"
