DAILY BIBLE PROMISE

** God put His Cross where His Mouth Was - all along! ** Today's Bible Promise is ... "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins." 1Jn 4:10

DAILY THANKSGIVING

SUNLIGHT:

Lord, I love the rain, and storms - and even what I call the 'grey-lady days'. But Lord, how wonderful is your sunshine! The warmth and glow of daylight cheers and invigorates the soul as well as the body. And it also reminds us that the Day will be soon upon us when You Return to this weary planet and with Your Very Brightness, CLEANSE the whole of Your Creation - once-for-all! Thank you Lord - for your sunshine!

SURF'S UP!!

In California, where this shot was taken, there are so many surfers waiting for big waves, they have devised ingenious alert systems. Even radio stations break regular programming for this critical information.

But what might seem adventurous and even romantic to some, is sheer madness and a dangerous pastime for others. So what IS it, then, about adventure that lures some and repels others? There is an element of fear and risk involved. So how can we see this in reference to the exciting experience of sojourning through the Bible with God?

For a very few - personal Bible study is visceral, tangible Adventure. Notice I capitalized that?! That is because for these souls, this is an Adventure they share with The Living God. And one in which they are Escorted by The Holy Spirit Himself - Personally! So we can see that this is made an Adventure by The Company with which it is Shared.

Risk? O my, yes! To Walk with God risks everything else! Jesus made this quite clear. Danger? Well - no Eternal Danger, no - but there have always been those who have paid for their allegiance to Jesus Christ with the forfeiture of their own, mortal lives. And Fear? Gracious, yes! If the unknown is fearful, then Walking by Faith and not sight is terrifying - except, of course, as we have already said - we are Walking WITH CHRIST!

When a soul - whose very Life is God's Breath (Living Word-Will) - enters an excursion through the unknown regions of Spiritual Growth and the Discipline of Sonship - with God - that soul is Learning FROM God, ABOUT God, and WITH God. Adventure? Romance? Exciting, more Abundant Life? It is to be found nowhere more Real than in the Bible, with Jesus Christ!

Surfing? PHUUNNNNN!!!!! Where God's CALL is concerned, "SURF'S UP!" means, "COME AND DINE!" (Gnarly, duuuuuuuuuuud!!)

DAILY HYMN (LYRICS & MUSIC)

Early, my God, without delay,
I haste to seek Thy face;
My thirsty spirit faints away
Without Thy cheering grace.

So pilgrims on the scorching sand,
Beneath a burning sky,
Long for a cooling stream at hand,
And they must drink or die.

I’ve seen Thy glory and Thy power
Through all Thy temple shine;
My God, repeat that heav’nly hour,
That vision so divine.

Not all the blessings of a feast
Can please my soul so well,
As when Thy richer grace I taste,
And in Thy presence dwell.

Not life itself, with all her joys,
Can my best passions move,
Or raise so high my cheerful voice,
As Thy forgiving love.

Thus till my last expiring day
I’ll bless my God and King;
Thus will I lift my hands to pray,
And tune my lips to sing.

CHRISTIAN STUDY RESOURCES

A sort of second edition of the written Scriptures

(Cornelius Tyree, "The Moral Power of a Pious Life" 1859)

"So that in every way they may make the teaching about
God our Savior more attractive." Titus 2:10

A conversion from depravity and sinfulness--to active godliness,
is a more sublime miracle, and a more effectual proof for the
divinity of the gospel--than was the resurrection of Lazarus!

Of all modes of teaching Christianity, 'exemplifying it' is the best.

The best commentary on the Bible that the world has ever seen
--is a holy life of growing likeness to Christ.

The most eloquent sermon in behalf of the gospel that the
world has ever heard--is a uniform, active life of piety.

The best version of the Bible which has ever been made--is a
consistent pious example. The Christian whose light thus shines,
not only correctly renders--but beautifies the sacred text. His
life and conduct are a sort of second edition of the written
Scriptures--a 'living epistle' which all can read, all understand,
and which convinces and convicts all.

We must become living, radiant likenesses of gospel truth. We
are to be living verifications of the great doctrines of the Bible.
A godly life is a powerful argument for the truth of the gospel.

"You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read
by all men." 2 Corinthians 3:2

"Be an example for the believers in your speech, your
conduct, your love, faith and purity. 1 Timothy 4:12

The depth of your dreams, the height of your wishes
The length of your vision to see, the hope of your heart
Is much bigger than this
For it's made out of what might be

Now picture your hope, your heart's desire -
As a castle that you must keep
In all of its splendor, it's drafty with lonely
This heart is too hard to heat

When I get lonely ah, that's only a sign
Some room is empty, and that room is there by design
If I feel hollow - that's just my proof that there's more
For me to follow - that's what the lonely is for

Is it a curse or a blessing this palace of promise
When the empty chill makes you weep
With only the thin fire of romance to warm you
These halls are too tall and deep

When I get lonely ah, that's only a sign
Some room is empty, and that room is there by design
If I feel hollow - that's just my proof that there's more
For me to follow - that's what the lonely is for

But, you can seal up the pain, build walls in the hallways
Close off a small room to live in
But those walls will remain, and keep you there always
And you'll never know why you were given... why you were given the lonely

Some room is empty
If I feel hollow that's just my proof that there's more
For me to follow - that's what the lonely is for

From the deep of your dreams, the height of your wishes
The length of your vision to see, the hope of your heart
Is much bigger than this
For it's made out of what might be

Pr 8:22-31
"The LORD created (possessed) me (Wisdom) at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old. Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no springs (fountains) abounding with water. Before the mountains had been shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth; before he had made the earth with its fields, or the first of the dust of the world. When he established the heavens, I was there, when he drew a circle (set a compass) on the face of the deep, when he made firm the skies above, when he established the fountains of the deep, when he assigned to the sea its limit, so that the waters might not transgress his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth, then I (Wisdom) was beside him, like a master workman; and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always, rejoicing in his inhabited world and delighting in the sons of men."
