AFLAK?!

What did folks DO before they invented the notion of insurance? Or social security? Or medicare? (NOTE: Billions of souls today have no such manmade assurances!)

Reliance on social inventions has proved disasterous to countless millions - so far. And it only seems to be getting worse. It is for sure that what we place our trust in, we give the power to 'gut' us by assumption-disappointment!

God strictly forbade this sort of manmade mischief for His Own People. In 2 Kings 18:21, God says; "Behold, you are relying (trusting) now on Egypt (type of man's world), that broken reed of a staff, which will pierce the hand of any man who leans on it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who rely on (trust) him." (see also Isa 36:6)

Well, you say, what happens when we rely upon or trust that we have flood insurance - like so many hurricane evacuees - and are caught and defrauded by the deceit and greed of the company's 'small print'? Tell me - do we think we can appeal to God - after-the-fact - for whatever emotional rape may occur from placing our trust and faith in ANY 'other-than-God'? So many have been embittered and hardened against God by such folly. Shame!

Our APPEAL is where our CONVERSATION remains. If our first instinct is to turn to 'flesh & blood' for consolation - or for prior consultation - then that is where we must also look for our salvation (help)! (see Jn 5:44) But the law of mortality is death, destruction and devastation - not Life Eternal. And we are all - in the end - only Pilgrims in this wicked world.

After his very long dissertations about our sojourn "under the sun" (through mortal vanity), Solomon ends His Lecture (Ecclesiastes) with these words: "The end of the matter (in conclusion); all has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil." Trusting GOD pays off. But for this, 'Real-ationship' (Communication) is REQUIRED!

DAILY HYMN (LYRICS & MUSIC)

O troubled heart, there is a home
Beyond the reach of toil and care;
A home where changes never come:
Who would not fain be resting there?

Refrain

O wait, meekly wait, and murmur not,
O wait, meekly wait, and murmur not
O wait, O wait,
O wait, and murmur not.

Yet when bowed down beneath the load
By Heav’n allowed, thine earthly lot;
Look up! thou’lt reach that blest abode;
Wait, meekly wait, and murmur not.

Refrain

Toil on, nor deem, tho’ sore it be,
One sigh unheard, one prayer forgot;
The day of rest will dawn for thee;
Wait, meekly wait, and murmur not.

Refrain

CHRISTIAN STUDY RESOURCES

'Experimental knowledge'

(J. C. Philpot, "Letters & Memoirs" 1840)

"Now this is eternal life: that they may know
You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ,
whom You have sent." John 17:3

An experimental knowledge of Christ in
the soul, is the only relief for sin's . . .
poverty,
guilt,
leprosy,
bankruptcy,
and damnation.

This is the true way of preaching Christ crucified;
not the mere doctrine of the Cross, but a crucified
Jesus experimentally known to the soul.

I am deeply conscious of my own . . .
baseness,
ignorance,
blindness
and folly.
But my malady is too deeply rooted to be healed by
dry doctrines and speculative theological opinions.

The blood of the Lamb, spiritually and supernaturally
sprinkled and applied, is the only healing balm for a
sin-sick soul.

DAILY BIBLE PROVERB

Pr 8:17-21

"I (Wisdom) love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me. (Spiritual) Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and prosperity. My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold, and my yield than choice silver. I walk in the way of righteousness, in the paths of justice (judgment), endowing with wealth those who love me, and filling their treasuries."

DAILY POEM

Brave little woman, trudging along patiently, day after day -- weaving a garment of shining light out of the clouds of gray; bearing the burdens of vexing cares, like one of the saints of old -- making the best of a dull, hard life with its miseries all untold!

"Long have I watched her with wondering eyes -- faithful and sweet and strong -- doing the work that the Master sends, making of sorrow, song; questioning never the Wisdom that asks self-abnegation complete, willingly treading the pathway of thorns that leads to the Master's feet.

"Sometime a fair, sweet morn shall dawn, with a smile of infinite grace; somewhere, oh somewhere, fruition shall be, when the Angel shall find her a place close to the Father, and she hears Him say, as He tenderly bids her to come, 'Out of the valley of darkness and toil, My child, thou art welcome - Home!"

--Stanley J. Davis

DAILY PERSONAL PROVERB (--Dennis Rideout)

Question your Conversion if you're un-thankful, 'Saint'!

NOTABLE QUOTES (Various Authors)

"It is impossible to mentally or socially enslave a Bible-reading people!"
