DAILY BIBLE PROMISE

** God put His Cross where His Mouth Was - all along! ** Today's Bible Promise is ... "O ye sons of men, how long [will ye turn] my glory into shame? [how long] will ye love vanity, [and] seek after leasing? Selah. But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him." Ps 4:2-3

DAILY THANKSGIVING

PETS:

Lord I want to thank you for the pets I have owned and loved over the years. Each one has been a special little member of my family - and with very different personalities and needs.

They have taught me many things from you, Lord - loyalty, kindness, humility - to name just a few. My life has been far richer for knowing and learning to love each one of them.

Thanks, Lord!

GIDAYUPP, SUITCASES!!

Ride 'em, cowboy! I tell ya there's nothing quite like breakin a batch of buckin' bags! Takes yer breath away, I tell ya!

This young lad is having a high ole time with the most common stuff - right around him. He's learned how to play by himself - to entertain himself - with his imagination.

Our imagination is a marvelous gift. On the one hand, it's kinda like a magnificent magnifier - it blows things up, out of their normal proportions for a closer examination. This can be quite helpful. On the other hand, it can concoct out of sheer fantasy some of the most wonderful or bizarre notions. Kids learn this early!

But let your imagination run amok and you will soon find yourself a slave to ideas and concepts - even superstitions and fabrications of the most evil sort! But where did these COME from?

God tells us that our heart is naturally evil (Jer 17:9). Without discipline, it can - all by itself - bubble up 'imaginations of the heart that are wicked - continually' (as God said of the folks in Noah's day, Gen6:5). For this, we all know, God destroyed them ALL!

Play is fun. And fantasy is delightful! But without discipline, the human heart turns wicked - hates God - and justifies it's evil as it's 'right-to-self' (choice). God, keep us from our evil selves - and Save us FOR YOUR GLORY!

CHRISTIAN STUDY RESOURCES

THIS HEAVENLY LIGHT OF TRUTH

(John Angell James)

"All Scripture is inspired by God, and is useful for
teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness, so that the man of God may be
thoroughly equipped for every good work."
2 Timothy 3:16-17

The doctrines of Scripture are facts, which involve
corresponding emotions and principles of action,
and must, from their very nature, if believed, be
operative upon the heart and the life.

If the doctrines of Scripture . . .
exert no godly influence,
carry with them no practical weight,
exert no moral power,
they are not truly believed.

The doctrines of Scripture are at once . . .
the source of consolation, and
the means of sanctification.

The doctrines of Scripture . . .
come into the mind as knowledge,
produce peace and love in the heart,
and spread the beauties of holiness
over the character and conduct.

The doctrines of Scripture are light; and like the
rays of the sun, they sustain life at the root of
the vine, and produce fruit on its branches.

This heavenly light of truth gives . . .
spiritual vitality to the soul,
and holy conduct to the life.

"For our gospel came to you not simply with
words, but also with power, with the Holy
Spirit and with deep conviction." 1 Thes. 1:5

"Sanctify them by the truth; Your Word is truth."
John 17:17

DAILY BIBLE PROVERB

Pr 8:8-11
"All the words of my mouth are righteous; there is nothing twisted or crooked (froward) in them. They are all straight (plain) to him who understands and right to those who find knowledge. Take my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold; for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her."

DAILY POEM

"Jesus, my only Hope, Friend ever dear, Bend to my earnest prayer Thy gracious ear; Come from Thy throne above, come and my dross remove, Fill me with perfect love, Savior, to Thee.

Jesus, my only Hope, grant me Thy grace, Teach me in joy and pain Thy hand to trace; Keep Thou my heart in peace, bid ev?ry murmur cease, Come and my faith increase, Savior, in Thee.

Jesus, my only Hope, Jesus, my King, Help me with heart and voice Thy praise to sing; Now let Thy beams divine bright o?er my pathway shine, Draw me, O Savior mine, closer to Thee.

Jesus, my only Hope, be Thou my Guest; Under Thy mighty wings, O let me rest, Rest till the angel band home to the promised land Bears me at Thy command, Savior, to Thee."

--Fanny Crosby, 1886
